Virginia Law requires, under Code Section 3.2-6548 that no director, operator, staff or caregiver of any Shelter (SPCA, Humane Society, etc.) may have been convicted of animal cruelty, neglect or abandonment. The Stafford SPCA will not even consider employing, or allowing anyone to volunteer, who has been convicted of any of these or related crimes.

Regarding applications, resumes and application packages, we classify submissions in 3 categories, Good – Better – Best.
Better: Download and complete the Employment Application AND provide your updated resume, including salary history and at least 3 references. Send via email or fax using the information listed above.
BEST: Include both of the above documents, AND follow the steps below to complete the application process.
A: Submit a current “resume brochure:”
Use colors, borders, insert photos, and insert personal / animal related content. Be specific about computer skills, internet skills, and other related skills. We want to see that you can be creative and use various media in your submission. This document should be a two-sided tri-fold design.
B: Create a PowerPoint presentation.
Tell us about yourself and your animal & work experiences. Your PowerPoint presentation should be a minimum of 4 slides, and more would be better. This document will serve as your introduction to us and give you the chance to stand out among other applicants. We want to see that you can use the program creatively and effectively to convey to us who you are, what you care about, and the skills you bring to the table for the desired position.
